Environment Services Supervisor

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of maintenance, housekeeping and the laundry departments in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
As the Environmental Services Director you are responsible and accountable to carry out your assigned duties and report directly to the Administrator. Must ensure facility is maintained in an efficient, clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess as a minimum, a high school diploma, preferably an Associate’s Degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent interpersonal skills
High Customer Service and quality attitude
Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including, but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook


SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity with direct experience in maintenance and desirable experience in laundry and housekeeping within a acute/long-term care/healthcare environment.

Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and repair.

Must be knowledgeable of boilers, generators, PTACS, as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Training in operation of laundry, housekeeping and maintenance equipment.

Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise functions and activities of the department.

Must oversee the maintenance and care of supplies and equipment.

Must maintain daily rounds/ inspections of resident and non-resident areas for sanitation, order, safety, and employee’s proper performance duties.

Must have ability to read and interpret directions and be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.

Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public as well as handling residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.

Upholds all federal, state and local regulatory laws and standards and Life Safety policies and procedures.

Actively communicate with administration and other departments.

Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise department personnel including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, orienting, evaluating, and disciplining.

Inspects facilities to determine repair and replacement needs.

Represents department at pertinent facility meetings and in various capacities.

Establish and implement policies and procedures for departmental operations.

Proactive in the achievement of the facility goals and objectives.

Must possess the ability to carry out programs in repair, new construction and equipment installation.

Possess sufficient mechanical abilities to handle facility preventative maintenance with little outside contract use.

Obtains bids and manages the service contracts with outside vendors and contractors when necessary.

Serves on-call for emergencies and off-duty hours.
